Paul Virr

Paul is an editor and writer of children’s non-fiction books. He edited the official children’s guides for the Science Museum in London and the Museum of Science in Manchester, and is a registered STEM ambassador working with Bath Royal Scientific and Literary Institute.

Peter Bently

Peter Bently went to ten different schools around the world and studied languages at Oxford University. He started writing for children soon after becoming a parent and now lives with his wife, Lucy, and children, Theo and Tara, in Devon (which has its very own excellent medieval castle). Peter won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize in 2011 with Cats Ahoy!.

Poppy Bishop

Poppy is a London girl born and bred. When not writing, she loves visiting art galleries, and hanging out on her houseboat with her pet parrot, Clement.

Penny Dann

Penny Dann loved to draw when she was little and she never gave up! As well as being a children’s book illustrator, Penny has also worked on advertising, editorial and packaging projects, and designed a soft toy. After several years travelling and working overseas, she moved back to Brighton and now lives with her partner Tom, a graphic designer, and a very grumpy cat, Earl. She is best known for illustrating The Secret Fairy series for Orchard Books.

Phil Alderson

Phil Alderson became an illustrator after his early aspirations to be a cool musician dwindled due to the premature loss of his hair in his twenties. Luckily, he was very good at drawing pictures, so he has enjoyed a more successful career in illustration. Phil now revels in being a totally uncool dad to his young daughter and no.1 fan.

Prisca Le Tandé

Prisca is a child of the disco era – so dancing queens and grooving cats are right up her street. She sees the world of illustration as a dessert trolley laden with your favourite things. Why not taste everything – you can always go to the dentist afterwards. After studying Applied Art at school, she enrolled in a film studies degree and embarked on an adventure into the world of animation. She is still living the adventure, as the author and artistic director of the animated series ‘Grosha and Mr B’.

When she was young, Prisca adored the craft craze, Scoubidou. It’s that same simple creativity that gives her such joy now that she’s creating books for children.
