Publicity and Marketing Executive - Little Tiger Group

Our small, dynamic communications team is seeking a creative and energetic Publicity and Marketing Executive. Reporting to the Brand Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for planning and managing attention grabbing, integrated publicity and marketing campaigns. We are looking for someone with 1-2 years experience in publicity or marketing.

You will have a passion for children’s books, from baby board books all the way up to Young Adult. You will have excellent communication skills, be highly organised, able to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. You will be comfortable liaising across multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, including authors, illustrators, agents, booksellers, librarians, journalists and bloggers. You will be a team player, able to work independently, but always ready to support your colleagues and willing to think about the list as a whole, not only your assigned books.

The Little Tiger Group is the IPG Independent Children’s Publisher of the Year 2018. A creatively led independent publisher comprised of four imprints, each with its own distinct approach to creating engaging and inspiring books for children and young people. The group’s flagship picture book list, Little Tiger, focuses on heart-warming, humorous and beautifully-illustrated picture books. Caterpillar Books specialises in interactive novelty books for babies and young children. Stripes Publishing creates exciting commercial fiction for young readers and teens. 360 Degrees produces stunning, illustrated non-fiction.

The design team at Caterpillar Books is looking for a creative and talented individual to help produce innovative children’s picture books, novelty books for babies and wonderfully illustrated non-fiction for all ages!

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
The successful candidate will have:
A knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign) is imperative, and artwork / pre-press experience would be preferred.

This is a unique role within children’s publishing, ideal for candidates wishing to develop and hone their design skills in an incredibly dynamic industry and to work as a vital part of the Caterpillar team in Little Tiger Press' friendly Fulham-based studios. Stripes - Junior Editor

Stripes Publishing are looking for a Junior Editor to work in their busy editorial team.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Copy-editing and proofreading titles
• Managing projects through from manuscript to publication
• Assessing submissions
• Managing the production of US editions
• Writing copy for Title Information sheets and for book covers
• Generating book ideas to be pitched at concept meetings

The successful candidate will have:
• A few years experience in the children’s books industry
• Meticulous copy-editing and proofreading skills
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) 
• A keen eye for detail and superb organisational skills
• A passion for children's books and an awareness of the market
• Working knowledge of InDesign and Word

Work Experience

Are you interested in a career in publishing? Would you like to learn more about how a children’s publishing house works, gain valuable experience in the industry, and discover what it takes to bring a children’s book to life?

Little Tiger Press offers work experience placements in the Editorial, Design and Marketing & Publicity departments. These are unpaid (although we do cover expenses of up to £10 per day) and usually last a fortnight.

Work experience at Little Tiger amounts to much more than tea-making and photocopying. Tasks will vary – from reading new picture book submissions alongside an editor, to writing a press release for the marketing team, to researching festival dates with our publicist, you’ll certainly be kept busy!
