Careers at Little Tiger Group

Commissioning Editor – Little Tiger Group

The Little Tiger Group is a creatively led, independent publisher comprised of four imprints: Little Tiger, Caterpillar Books, Stripes Publishing and 360 Degrees. We publish everything from books for the very young, right up to Young Adult, both fiction and non-fiction.

We are seeking an exceptionally creative, market-savvy, trail-blazing Commissioning Editor with a passion for broadening the inclusion of unheard voices within children’s literature.

You will be responsible for sensitively identifying, commissioning, developing and supporting writers and illustrators, with a particular focus on under-represented minorities.
In addition to commissioning your own books you will work closely with the creative teams to identify ways to ensure all of our books are as inclusive as possible.

This role is unique within the company as you will be the only editor working across every imprint, so you will be passionate about all kinds of books for all ages, and have a clear vision of how to contribute to our aim of publishing books that appeal to every child.

This is a vital and distinct role, and as such we are interested in the particular tastes, experiences and connections of the individual who will fill it. You might already be commissioning but seeking the freedom to bring about more substantial change with regards to representation; you could be an editor  with a keen sense of how the industry can be more inclusive, who is ready to take on increased responsibility. It’s even possible that you don’t currently work in publishing but that you are able to demonstrate other skills and experience which would be suited to the role.

What is essential is that you have a strong sense of integrity, impeccable taste, heaps of creativity, an ability to galvanise, an understanding of the market as it stands and a sense of where it can go.

To apply, please send a CV and covering letter to Thomas Truong ttruong@caterpillarbooks.co.uk

The closing date is Friday 6th October but early applications may be prioritised.
