Editor (9 month maternity cover) – Little Tiger Press, London

We are looking for an Editor to cover maternity leave on our busy Custom Publishing list. Working with a team of highly creative editors and designers on a wide range of exciting books, gift and books-plus projects, this is the ideal position for a talented editor looking for hands-on experience brainstorming, briefing and developing projects. You will be creative, organised and meticulous, with a flair for words and ideas, and a demonstrable passion for all kinds of children’s books. You will need an exceptional eye for detail, plus the ability to manage a busy workload, and to work well within a team.

An awareness of market needs and wider cultural trends will be useful in the development of this commercial, customer focused list. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience in full colour children’s publishing.

Senior Designer – Children’s Books

Little Tiger Press is an independent publisher of award-winning children’s books. We’re looking for a highly creative, efficient and dynamic Senior Designer to join our close-knit Custom Publishing team creating everything from picture books to box sets, novelty and board books.
Key duties:
• To design fantastic, commercially-successful books with strong typography and distinctive designs for all markets;
• To be a key part of the creative team developing new ideas, formats and series in a fast-paced environment;
• To seek out, nurture, inspire and develop both established and upcoming illustrators;
• To maintain accurate files and logs, meeting key deadlines and budgets.

Work experience

Are you interested in a career in publishing? Would you like to learn more about how a children’s publishing house works, gain valuable experience in the industry, and discover what it takes to bring a children’s book to life?

Little Tiger Press offers work experience placements in the Editorial, Design and Marketing & Publicity departments. These are unpaid (although we do cover expenses of up to £10 per day) and usually last a fortnight.

Work experience at Little Tiger amounts to much more than tea-making and photocopying. Tasks will vary – from reading new picture book submissions alongside an editor, to writing a press release for the marketing team, to researching festival dates with our publicist, you’ll certainly be kept busy!
